the five steps to becoming a flight student

We know that navigating a new career path can be time-consuming— but it doesn't have to be. Our team has consolidated the enrollment process into five simple steps to get you out of the paperwork and into the air, in as little as a few days.

  • Our student checklist will provide you with an overview of our program and help you determine your qualification for the program.

  • Schedule your discovery flight. Here you will get a feel for flying our helicopters with one of our certified instructors and learn all about what our program has to offer.

  • To continue into flight training, you will be required to complete your second-class medical certification through an aviation medical examiner near you.

  • Funding options for flight training costs are available for civilians and veterans.

Unlike other flight schools, we have a variety of exclusive scholarships for students enrolled within our program and the list of available scholarships is always growing.

  • After receiving your medical certificate, you will be eligible to schedule an appointment with one of our instructors to receive your student pilot certificate. Both remote and in-person appointments are available, email admissions@heli-co.com to schedule your appointment.

Required: An unexpired, government-issued photo identification document and your second-class medical certificate.

  • View AAS Degree Courses

Within our degree-rewarding pathway in Partnership with Lake Superior College, you will have an option to choose from a variety of courses. Click to view a list of available courses offered within our Professional Pilot Program.

Successful entry into this program requires basic computer skills and a specific level of skill in the areas of English, reading, and math.

  • Schedule a Discovery Flight

This is the best way to see if being a pilot is right for you. You will experience first-hand what our pilots experience every day. Discovery Flights are $279.00 plus an airport fee including one hour of ground instruction and half an hour of flight instruction in a Robinson R44 aircraft.

Flight times are scheduled based on instructor availability. Please contact us directly to schedule your discovery flight.

  • See financing and scholarships

Flight training is a significant investment. One that has the potential for a high return, a great salary, and a career that allows you decades of adventure flying and a variety of industries to be a part of.

If you want to fly, there shouldn’t be anything to stop you from getting airborne. There are multiple resources available that can help you make your dream a reality.
